This is another extra credit project.  I initially created it as a lidded project but later decided to keep it as a vase instead.  It is glazed in glue and green.  This project gives off the feeling of rolling mountains meeting the sky which is closely related to my theme of Farm Life.  Jesse's farm is on a hill and therefore, closely resembles the look of this vase.  It represents nature which is something that anyone can relate to.

This is an extra credit project.  I made it once I finished all of my projects for fun and because I wanted to have a good bowl that I would be able to use!  It is very simple and glazed in scrap green.  I used the sponge to give it more of a texture which is most noticeable at the bottom where it looks like it's swirling.  The glaze of the bowl also makes it look somewhat different because of the areas of lighter and darker glaze.

This is my multi-piece project.  I decided to make a teapot because I knew that it would be difficult and test the skills that I have learned this year.  It is fairly small, but large enough to make use of if I wanted to!  It's glazed in scrap green which turned out a greenish-blue color.  To make this project, I had to learn to cone and make a spout.  This was the most important part of the project which is why it was so important for me to make it well.  My teapot has the element of complexity due to the many different pieces required as well as the interesting glaze that I used.  The colors and shape represent a light, or happy mood which is good because when making tea, one wants to feel this way.

This is my wheel altered project.  It is a relatively small bowl but the shape of the top as well as the glaze makes it much more complex.  It is glazed in dark blue stain and clear glaze.  To make this project, I had to learn how to push the clay in at certain points to get it at the position and flower-like shape that I had hoped for. An element that this project has is complexity, in both the shape and glaze that I used.  This element gives it a more sophisticated and interesting look than i

This is my wheel and hand project.  Although it is not very complex, the shape and handle are both very good, which makes up for the lack of complexity.  It is glazed half clear, half blue with a lighter streak  of blue in the middle which creates a softer transition from blue to clear.  To make this project, I had to put all of my skills to use to make sure that both the cup and handle looked as professional and well done as possible.  An art element that it contains is blended color.  Like I previously mentioned, it gives the project a softer tranistionary appearance than it would have if it went straight from blue t

This is an extra credit project.  It is glazed green with clear on the inside for a separation of colors.  It starts out small and gets wider at the top, giving it an open appearance.  This project, although not my best work, relates to my theme in that it's colors and the feeling that it produces.

This is my theme choice project.  This project has the shape of a short vase.  It is glazed in black and white with a small amount of overlap in between.  The wide lip at the top gives it a very open look.  A skill that I used was both choking and pushing the top outwards.  An art element that it possesses is it's open look and separation of colors, contrasting both light and dark in the same project.  This project expresses my theme of nature becuase it mixes both the light and dark of nature (night vs. day).  It has a separated feel while remaining as one whole, complete project.

This is my lidded project.  My project is small and the lid fits inside of the lip of the project, giving it a snug-fitting look.  It is glazed in black which makes it look sleek.  To make this project, I had to learn how to make lids which turned out to be much easier than I had initially thought!  An art element that this contains is it's closed look, given by the lid of the project.  The size and glaze of my project make it look both sleek and petite

This is my set of three project.  I created three projects of the same shape but as small, medium, and large.  Unfortunately, the large project was either stolen, lost, or blown up in the kiln.  The tops of each project slant slightly in, giving it the appearance of being closed.  Each piece is a little less than double the size of the preceding one.  In order to make this project I had to learn how to make three projects of the same shape and proportion with the least amount of variation possible.  As mentioned before, I curved the tops of each project slightly in giving it the appearance of being closed.  This project reflects my growth in my ceramics abilities because it is difficult to make three projects that look exactly alike but I was able to do this!

This is my choice project.  I had initally made the vase as a part of my set of three but the others did not turn out as well as I had hoped so I decided to make this my choice!  It is approximately 5 inches tall by 4 inches wide.  It is glazed in clear and dark blue glaze.  Since this was not the first time that i made a vase, there were not many new skills that I learned but had to be very cautious with the top and make sure that it did not become uneven.  The blue glaze that is only on the top gives it a dripping, or melting appearance.  The glaze is also coordinated with the curve of the vase.  The glaze and shape of the vase, together, give the appearance of a liquid dripping down the edges, instead of sitting at the bottom, as a vase is normally used for containing a liquid.
